Question by : Can antibiotics make your sinus infection worse?
Ive been using antiobiotics for sinus infection and a nasal spray (beconase) for my hayfever.
A day after i used both, i hade a huge heada he, my nose hurt when i blew it, had a sore throat. Symptoms of a bad fever/cold.
Is this cause of spray or antiobiotics

The idiots who spam their crappy websites, piss off. Im not going to go onto the site

Antibiotics and spray can SEEM like they’re making it worse, but really the gross stuff is loosening up and working it’s way out – which could give you a sore throat and make you feel worse – but you should feel better in a few days.

If you don’t finish your antibiotic prescription, it could come back worse though, so don’t stop taking it unless your doctor says too.

I’m not a doctor, but I’ve had a ton of sinus infections and once I called my doctor because I felt so much worse after I started taking the antibiotics.

Today I hawked a couple loogies and there was blood in the mucus. And when I blew my nose my snot was really dark colored, a dark brown, if you will. Can someone tell me what’s happening?

i have had bad pressure in my head and ears for almost a year now as well as head aches, dizziness, lack of appetite. I went to the doctor a few days ago and she said its my sinus but its not exactly an infections although i have all the symptoms. She put me on guafenesin and zyrtec but since then i have been feeling a little worse. I am having difficulty trying to swallow i have had no relief in my head or ears..now i just feel like i have a full blown head cold. Is this how it is suppose to be?

I’ve been sick for a while. My nose is always runny and its just regular mucus, but when I blow my nose its about half blood and half mucus on the tissue. Sinus infection or maybe something worse?

I’ve also got a bad cough but thats it, no fever or muscle aches or anything.

I recently had sinusitis and was on Ceftin for 10 days. The Ceftin cleared up the sinus infection, but over the last couple days of taking Ceftin my tonsils were starting to get covered in white spots. A few days later they were covered in even more white stuff, so I went to my doctor who took a look at my throat and my very swollen lymph nodes on the right side (Very large and visibly swollen, although no longer very painful.) and tested me for Mono, which came back negative. He then did a throat culture test (Still awaiting results.) and said he thought it was strep throat. He started me on a 10-day course of Augmentin 875mg, twice a day.

I started treatment yesterday and today I’ve noticed that my throat isn’t doing any better. It’s more sore than it was yesterday, AND there’s even more white gunk on the right side.

I’ve read strep usually improves a day or two after starting treatment.

Is it possible for the infection to still worsen for a day or two after starting treatment?
On a side note, I’m pretty sure it’s not Oral Thrush…

Thrush usually starts in the cheeks/on your tongue, and moves back towards the tonsils. I’ve also been eating a decent amount of yogurt to help maintain a good balance within my body to help prevent that. I am fairly susceptible to tonsil problems quite often anyway…

Also, oral thrush wouldn’t cause swollen lymph nodes, if I’m not mistaken… Either way, I’ve had the throat culture test done and will get the results on Monday… That will determine if it is indeed Strep, Tonsillitis, or Thrush. Guess we’ll find out, eh?

On a side note, my friend’s sister had strep throat the other day when we all hang out. I ended up having to sit next to her at the diner we went to, so it’s a possibility if she coughed/sneezed anywhere, the droplets could’ve gotten in my food and I could’ve caught strep there.

We shall discover the answer to what this is, soon!
