Question by Buster: Where is this conjunctivitis coming from?
I’ve had a few bouts of conjunctivitis this past year. A couple of recent cases have lead to debilitating sinus pain. There are several factors that I think may all be involved.

My doctor diagnosed the last case of conjunctivitis (at the time I thought was just a blocked tear duct). In all of my cases it’s the same eye (right), the eye is not red at all and the only symptom is a watery eye that may lead to sinus pain. I’ve noticed that just keeping the eye closed brings a good deal of relief (especially from any sinus pressure).

One question I have: is this conjunctivitis that leads to a sinus infection or is this a sinus infection that manifests itself in conjunctivitis? I ask this since I left a case of conjunctivitis untreated and it developed into a nasty sinus infection – oral antibiotics made me better in a day. Another case I treated early with prescribed antibiotic drops – although this kept things from getting worse, the symptoms didn’t go away until about a week after the drops were used up. Very confusing.

Other factors: I have chronic autoimmune hepatitis (is my conjunctivitis autoimmune too?). I have chronic dermatitis around my nose and I treat this with Psoriasin (is this maybe toxic conjunctivitis that I have?).

Conjunctivitis is a contagious infection of the eye It can be spread from one person to another by touching then say you rub or touch your eye after someone else with conjunctivitis has touched a surface It has nothing to with sinuses Symptoms of conjunctivitis can include a red eye swollen & teary eye. Can also temporarily affect vision. Closing your eyes may relieve pressure of sinus but again has nothing to do with conjunctivitis I would check out the possibility of allergies

Question by isotope2007: Seniors do you suffer from sinus infections, have you tried this home remedy?
I applied Mentholatum (sp) rub directly to the sinus areas under my eyes and next to my nose. the sinus infection bags were getting unsightly, then applied a hot damp face cloth to my entire face and inhaled the Mentholatum fumes as well. It stings a bit but I could actually see the swelling go down, It works like a charm for me.

Has anyone else ever tried this ? Does it work for you too?
Make sure it doesnt get into your eyes!

Question by I.heart.music.: How to fix this sinus issue?
Hi there! Last weekend I had a fever and a cough. By Sunday the fever had gone down and my cough had become somewhat dry, but my nose was really congested. I’ve tried many different cold medicines like benedryl, mucinex, Tylenol cold and flu, dayquil, nyquil, etc… Nothing has seemed to work for my stuffy nose. Today it has been unbearable! I can’t even swallow without my nose “plugging my ears” (it’s kind of hard to describe). It feels as if my nose is so congested that it’s blocking off my throat as well. This is especially difficult because I’ve had to breathe through my mouth, and not even being able to swallow water without my ears plugging and my throat feeling like it’s “closed” is painful. Has anyone experienced this kind of sinus congestion? What remedies or medication would you suggest?

I get bad sinus pressure/infections that feel like this. I definitely recommend getting it looked at by a doctor, you might need amoxicillin or something like that if its an infection. If you don’t want to go to the doctors try saline nasal spray, a warm, damp washcloth/compress over your nose and eyes to relieve some of the pressure, or a Netti pot to literally clean out your sinuses (its gross but my mom swears by it). Mucinex DM works well too but I think you need a prescription for that. If these don’t work, I would go to the doctor to get it cleared up pronto. Feel better!

Question by Brittany S: Does this sound like a brain tumor?
So it started around 8 weeks ago, i had a constant pressure feeling in my head, the doctor said it sounds like sinus, so i took the antibbioticand i had no relief from the headache. It went away for awhile and now its back, its been for 2 weeks straight now but its constant pain, mostly when i lie down. My eyes have been zoning out frequently throughout the day, i have a weird feeling in my head and then random sharp pains. Im worried its a brain tumor, because it gets worse when lying down, and because it dosent respond to pain medicine. ?

It sounds like it from what I’ve studied on the brain. I am a Heart surgeon, but have previewed the brain and work with neurosurgeons. Your best option is to go to a neurosurgeon and not ask Yahoo Answers this question when it is potentially hazardous and very serious. Good luck and take care!
