I called the pharmacy and they said since I’m in my 3rd trimester its not safe to take anything. Ive mostly got sinus congestion. Any good home remedies to take that are safe?

If it’s from past 2-3 months, you’re supposed to see your doctor. You have Chronic Sinusitis, that has to be treated clinically.

For symptoms, you can try water vapours with mint medications (Vicks?) in it.

My only allergy symptom is sinus pain. Is there a way to help soothe my sinus pressure that doesn’t involve taking a pill daily?

I already take thyroid meds everyday, and acid reflux meds when I feel sick. I don’t want to add a third pill to the regime if I don’t need to.

It’s so strange that I have similar problems. I’ve had sinus problems and allergies for years. Also I take synthroid for hypothyroidism. After sinus surgeries I would use nasacort spray twice a day everyday. Keep environment dust free using a hepafilter especially at night. Sinus headaches were bad for me so when they were real bad I took Imatrex. I would lay down and headache would go away. I will always have drainage and pressure so I have changed certain things in life. As in staying away from smokers, perfumes, drugs etc. Steam helps with swelling. Ice does as well. A sinus headache for me is relentless and Imatrex helps. I can’t think of anything else except natural saltwater spray for your nose and one of those facemasks you put in the freezer. Place on your eyes and nose area and lay down. Very helpful.

I have gone to the doctor 3 times in the last 3 or 4 weeks trying to get rid of this sinus infection. I was prescribed an antiboitic and nose spray and I did that and felt the same. They then put me on a stronger antibiotic that I was supposed to take once a day for 3 days which I did, and still I feel the same. I fear that this is going to get worse and turn into something more serious if I can’t fix this simple sinus infection. I also have been getting cold easily and keep trying to get the mucas out of my throat. It’s just in my throat and not my nose. Any help please?! I really do not want to go back a fourth time this month!

I am NOT a doctor, but I have similar problems all throughout allergy season. I have found that a neti pot works wonders for me. It took me a while to figure out how to use it correctly but once I did it was great. Good luck!

I have a sinus infection but I can’t afford to go to the doctor and have no insurance. I read about using a mixture between decongestants, cough suppressants, and pain medication, but will this actually clear the infection or do I need an antibiotic?

I’m definitely not a doctor. The couple of times I’ve had a sinus infection, I’ve had to get antibiotics. You may want to do a little more research online and see. Sometimes if I see a remedy repeated many times, I would give it a try. I’m sorry…

My sister had about 6 sinus infections in the past year.She’ve done allergy testing and came out negative and just finished one more round of antibiotics (one of the strongest) and my sinusitis is still lingering.My specialist is highly recommending I have surgery, but I would like to avoid that as much as possible. Are there any other treatment or home remedies anyone knows of that has worked for them?

Unaddressed lactose intolerance will produce problems with your sinuses, constant ear nose and throat infections and a plethora of other symptoms such as digestive issues, headaches and migraines, bloating and constipation, excessive gas and excessive belching, insomnia, irritability and moodiness, fatigue and exhaustion, inability to clear your throat properly after meals, mucous in your stools …. try ditching the milk and dairy for a week and increase your intake of leafy and green vegies and green salads and perhaps drink organic rice milk and see if your symptoms abate any.

Netty pot is always good. Basically that is rinsing your nose with salt water.

Yes to Vitamin C, Echinacea and Garlic! Helps your body fight the infection.

Yes to soup!

I use a heating pad on my face or take a really hot bath. I avoid things that make my mucus thick if it feels really bad. I eats lots of fruits and veg since they contain so many vitamins and minerals. I do take advil cold and sinus with my anti-biotic to help with the pain and congestion. I try to keep my nose and hands clean so I do not re-infect myself when I star getting better. I avoid ac (I had one hang around all summer once because of the ac. I took 3 days after the weekend off from work so I did not have to sit in it. At that point something gross and sticky which was multicolored came out of my nose and viol-la, I was better. I think I would still be sick if I had not gotten out of the ac. Now its back on and I am getting sick again, WTF.) Get as many Vitamins as possible. I usually take Echinacea and Garlic supplements and Advil Cold and Sinus. I wash it all down with air-borne. Is it a lot, well yeah… But most of it is vitamins, and I never mix cold medicines or take more then needed, just vitamins.
