I’m suffering from a chronic sinusitis and bad inflammation, Ihave heard that vitamin C in high dosages can help a lot, there is a real case study here…..a person began with 46grams of vitamin C and reduced the dosage slowly till he reached 4 grams per day after 1 month of treatment……his sinusitis is nearly gone!!……what is the maximum dosage that should be taken for treatment? and is the 46grams safe???? or have side effect?!!!

Answer by Frank That study is a pefect example of poor study design. The biggest problem is what scientists call the volunteer effect. If you put up a web site asking people to submit their experience with something, only the true believers will volunteer to submit their experience. This tells you that 100 people think that vitamin C cured them, not that 100 people were cured by vitamin C. If you put up a web site asking for people to submit their UFO experiences, you wouldn’t call that a study with a straight face.
Properly designed scientific studies have looked into Vitamin C dosing and found that large doses of Vitamin C actually suppress your immune system.
If you do not have enough Vitamin C, your immune system will weaken, but after you get enough, more is not better, even though people want to believe so.
46 grams of Vitamin C puts you at a meaningful risk of kidney stones. There are medications for sinusitis. Please visit an allergist or an ENT (ear, nose, throat specialist).
My husband has either a sinus infection or a cold and needs symptom relief. I don’t want to waste my money on forumulations that don’t work. I want both an antihistamine AND a decongestant bc his nose/eyes won’t stop running/watering and he is congested. Has anyone had good experiences with any particular cold/sinus meds? Thanks
Obviously acetaminophen too… so acetaminophen, antihist and decongestant…thanks
I’m on a 10 day course of Augmentin (antibiotic) right now, but it seems like my right eustachian tube is clogged up. I would like to get some temporary relief with over the counter meds.
Does anyone know if decongestants and antihistamines can even be used in conjunction with antibiotics safely? Maybe you even know which OTC meds to take for this?
I came up positive on this for a job random check and I am scared and shocked, I do not take them. I do take antidepressants, sinus relief spray, wellbutrin SR, trazadone rarely, lamictal, over the counter Stackers, herbal tea’s and a lot of coffee. Any ideas please. Thought I was illegally drug free! Pat
