Question by L Street Brownie: Do you need Nyquil to sleep and relieve your night time cold symptoms?
A female friend of mine calls herself a social drinker. She does not drink every day, or so she says. She likes mixed drinks, wine coolers, or cocktails containing vodka, tequila, or rum. Not a beer person or wine for that matter. Likes her martinis too. But I question whether or not she drinks at least one drink per day. She has battled sinus infections all of her life, from nasal congestion, coughs, and sinus infections that spread to her ears. She has a mild form of asthma and when she gets ear and sinus infections she uses an inhaler.
With the onset of winter, and the fact that she just got over an ear infection, I have noticed that she takes Nyquil every night. Not only does it help her with her cough, she finds that Nyquil has a sedative property to it so that it reduces her anxiety. She is very stressed about work and some personal issues and I am concerned that she is developing a dependence on alcohol through the Nyquil. One night, we had a couple of drinks, rum and Coke and she did a couple of shots of rum. Then she is still buzzed from the rum but insisted on taking Nyquil for her cough before she went to bed. I really didn’t notice her coughing much that night. She also smokes and is trying to quit. Sometimes I am not sure if the coughing is aggravated by her smoking more than a cold or sinus condition.
I think that her use of Nyquil is for more than just as a cough supressant. There are other cough and cold medications available that are just as effective as cough suppressants and offering alternative relief for cold symptoms and sinus condition sufferers. The big difference is that Nyquil contains alcohol and the alternative cough and cold medications do not.
Have you used Nyquil in the past? Are there other cough medications available that are just as effective that do not contain alcohol? How should I approach the subject of Nyquil with my girl friend?

www.SinusitisTreatmentNow.com Your body is full of fungus naturally. Your immune system actually needs this bacteria for normal digestion. When you use antibiotics to kill off fungal sinusitis, your whole body is robbed of the useful bacterias. A more natural approach to fungal sinusitis treatment is something that Joe Johnson has researched for over 20 years.
