Question by Alex: Can a sinus infection cause swollen tonsils?
Ive been getting fevers, very tired, my face around and behind my eyes hurts and my right tonsil is very swollen and has white spots all on it. i have a really bad history of sinus infections. do you think this could be my case? i am going to see a doctor, but i cant get in until Thursday =( (its Sunday)

Answer by Psycho The swollen tonsils with spots on sounds more like tonsilitus to me (I’ve had it a couple of times before) go to your doctor’s to check
About 3 days ago I started getting a sinus infection. I had a short mild fever and an all around case of the yucks. Then yesterday morning I had a large amount of bloody/rusty colored drainage come out of one of my sinus cavities. Since then my nose has not bothered me and any mucous coming out of my sinuses has been a lot clearer…so I am guessing that the infection is gone. Now, though I have swollen tonsils (not that swollen) with a couple of white patches on them (I’ve had the same small two white patches for two days, so they don’t look to be getting any worse). I know that your tonsils fight off infection, could this be the reason they are slightly swollen? Are they fighting off my previous sinus infection? I’m trying to avoid going to the doctor here because I don’t currently have any health insurance. I no longer have a fever, in fact, I feel just fine except for these slightly swollen tonsils and sore throat.
I have never had my tonsils out and they swell up and bother me quite often. When this happens it dries out my sinuses and it becomes painful to breath and swallow. Do any of you have any good ideas to relieve the pain of the swelling in my throat and my dry nose?
i have a super bad headache and a couple of people suggested in response to my last question that it could be a sinus infection………..
ive been looking at symptoms, and it makes sense, cuz ive been getting a little bit of a sore throat
buttttt no part of my face is swollen, and my nose is only stuffed up a teeny teeny tiny barely-noticeable-unless-im-thinking-about-it kind of way
