Question by Danielle: What am I sick with? (sinus pressure, ear pressure, headaches)?
I pop my ears 4 or 5 times an hour. I hack up yellow/brown gunk every morning and throughout the day. I constantly have pressure in my ears, below and behind my eyes, forehead and cheeks. I have headaches in my forehead and behind my eyes. This occurs pretty much daily, and I have quit taking Excedrin to avoid caffeine withdrawal headaches. I do take 3 ibuprofen about every few days when I can no longer handle the pressure in my face or my headaches. This has been going on for a year and a half

I have been tested twice for allergies (scratch testing and intradermal testing) (mild allergies to dogs, cats, and birch tree pollen), had 2 CT scans done (both normal, no cysts, signs of infections or swelling), an ENT examined my ears and found no fluid build up, my hearing tested normal, an asthma test came back normal. My ENT thought that maybe TMJ was causing my problems-I am seeing a dentist this week to check on that. I was on Claritin for 8 months and felt no relief. I have also tried Musinex, Sudifed, Advil cold and sinus, Afrin, Flonase, 2 other nasal sprays, Priolsec for acid reflux disease, Topimax for migraines, several different antibiotics, and Fexofenadine. None of these have given me much relief.

I live in a dorm at college in Minnesota in the Twin Ports area 5 hours away from my home. I’m not around animals at school. My dorm is outdated and the report about my dorm put out by my school said “The mechanical equipment in this building is outdated and does not provide adequate indoor air quality.” I have an air purifier in my room. I was thinking my dorm could have a mold problem, which led me to research a mold related sinus problems on the following website:
http://www.aspergillus.org.uk/newpatients/sinusitis.php
I have my doubts about it though, because nothing showed up on my CT scan. I also thought there could be things I’m allergic to that they can’t test for.

Any help with this would be greatly apprieciated!

Question by Christine T: Any solution for ear pain and pressure from sinus infection?
I have severe pain in my ear and pressure from a sinus infection. I have been rinsing my sinuses with sinus pump, hot showers and drinking lots of fluids. The pain is worse than pressure on an airplane – any other suggestions to decrease the pressure in the ears?

Answer by ??G?AC3??
you can take Sudafed, that sometimes helps, but if you’ve had a sinus infection, have someone look in your ear, you could have an ear infection brewing.

Question by Jon: I have this pressure in my top gums. Sinus?
Its not really what I would call “painful”. Its just really uncomfortable and it does seem to sometimes go up around my cheekbones. Sinus pressure? Any remedies? I’ve taken advil but like I said its not really painful…just uncomfortable from the pressure…
