Antibiotics can stop being effective if you take them a lot. Then you have to switch to something stronger. Do you smoke? If so, stopping will make them gradually go away and in 5 years you won’t get them anymore.

Question by Brittany S: Does this sound like a brain tumor?
So it started around 8 weeks ago, i had a constant pressure feeling in my head, the doctor said it sounds like sinus, so i took the antibbioticand i had no relief from the headache. It went away for awhile and now its back, its been for 2 weeks straight now but its constant pain, mostly when i lie down. My eyes have been zoning out frequently throughout the day, i have a weird feeling in my head and then random sharp pains. Im worried its a brain tumor, because it gets worse when lying down, and because it dosent respond to pain medicine. ?

It sounds like it from what I’ve studied on the brain. I am a Heart surgeon, but have previewed the brain and work with neurosurgeons. Your best option is to go to a neurosurgeon and not ask Yahoo Answers this question when it is potentially hazardous and very serious. Good luck and take care!

Question by heinrich533: Does this sound like a sinus infection?
I’ve been battling a health nightmare for about a month now. In early December, I went to the doctor with mild headaches and pain in the upper teeth. It was diagnosed as sinusitis and I was given amoxicillin. For the next four days, the pain got far worse and I started breaking out in sweats very easily. I was taken off the amoxicillin and put on Augmentin for ten days. Course went fine but the pain and sweating returned after three days. Doctor decided that the infection had been undertreated and put me on a twenty day course of Augmentin. Eventually, the symptoms got so bad that I stopped taking the medicine (after eight days and no relief) and scheduled an appointment with an ENT.

The ENT performed an endoscopy and said it didn’t look like I had bacterial sinusitis. She noticed a lot of inflammation and some mucus, but no pus. It looks like I’m going back for a CAT scan soon.

Does this still sound like a sinus infection? I’m completely bewildered and so sick of feeling run down.

Answer by Emily Peddicord
I had a similar problem years ago and I had some terrible allergies that led to inflammation in my sinuses. It got so bad that I had to get surgery so my sinuses were not so plugged up. The CAT scan will show the answer. The surgery worked wonders and I have never had such a severe sinus infection again. I also went to an allergist and got allergy shots for a few years to help build up an immunity. I am 100% better now.
