Extraction of my upper right wisdom tooth caused a whole between my sinus and mouth. This is kinda gross but funny, this is why i need surgery on Friday, apparently I have a sinus infection and they cut into my nose when removing my right upper wisdom tooth, its hurting terribly and is causing some problems but hopefully it will be fixed soon, I am just trying to make a joke of it when i can….lol even if Im making fun of myself….thanks to Jason the camera man hahaha

Question by Angie A: Maxillary sinusitis and tooth extraction?
Is wisdom tooth extraction a common treatment for maxillary sinusitis?

I guess it would depend if the root(s) of one or more of the wisdom teeth are long and are growing into your sinus cavity. I’ve had a molar grow into a sinus before and while the recovery period after extraction tends to be a little more painful than just a regular extraction..if you were having sinus trouble before the extraction…you may be pleasantly surprised when your sinus feels better! A little warning….your dentist may or may not tell you this….but breathing with your mouth closed entirely (after your extraction) my result in your learning that you can actually breath (temporarily) through the hole left by the extraction! If it happens, it will gross you out at first….if you are afraid of this happening and want to avoid it….always keep your mouth partially open when breathing..this causes less suction and decreases the chances of pulling air through the hole! It won’t be an issue once the tissues have healed and the hole fills in….. Well! I’m just warning you!!!
Good luck with it!

I got my wisdom teeth extracted last wednesday. It’s been ok, except today and yesterday i started expieriencing pain in my ears and sinuses. I am seeing the oral surgeon tomorrow. However, what bothers me more than the pain, is this horrible tast coming from the socket. From what I have researched it seems normal. It’s just so vile and make me sick to my stomach. I tried brushing and rinsing with saltwater, but that doesnt work. Does anyone know any remedies to get rid of the digusting taste?
