Question by Bella: I’ve been having extreme pressure around my eyes and forehead, the doctor told me I had a sinus infection?
He told me it was probably a sinus infection. The pressure is around my eyes and forehead. I have a stiff neck which is known to be a symptom. Every once and a while I can feel these little cracks in my sinuses ( I have been on anitbiotics for a few days now, but only having some relief) But I always thought that you have congested nasal passages when you have an infection, and I don’t… just wondering if this could be something else… Its really agonizing sometimes and I would like some answers.. Thanks.

You don’t always; sometimes it stays deep in the sinuses. Temple and eye pain/pressure (especially between the eyes) is indicative of a sinus problem, yes; I hadn’t heard of a stiff neck as being a symptom of sinus infection though, odd.

I *would* worry a bit if it’s been several days on antibiotics with little to no improvement, though; you may need a different antibiotic. I’d suggest calling up your doctor again for advice. You may also need a decongestant and expectorant to help thin the congestion in the sinuses and help relieve the pain and pressure while the antibiotic hopefully works on the cause. There’s a lot of good over-the-counter ones; I personally prefer Mucinex these days.

Question by Taylor: The doctor says I have a sinus infection but it feels like bronchitis?
I just had bronchitis. I’m feeling sick again. I went to the doctor and he said I have a sinus infection. He wasn’t to thorough though. It feels like bronchitis to me. I have a dry cough, sore throat, congestion, and ear pain. I think I have more then a sinus infection. My cough is really dry. What do you think?
I also have chills. And hot flashes but no fever.
My nose is kind of runny and when I had bronchitis my nose wasn’t really runny.

Obviously you should open your own practice, since you know more about medicine than your doctor…

Question by Emily: Does a sinus infection ever go away on its own or do you absolutely have to go to the doctor?
Ive had a sinus infection for about 3 weeks and its pretty much stayed the same, but I usually always just get better on my own? Should I go to the doctor or just wait it out?

Best answer:

Answer by Q n A
Sinus infection left untreated will not go away on its own.
See a doctor for antibiotics and nasal spray.
Nose rinse and draining to clear blockage for early recovery.

Question by tuffchic99: What can I do for relief from sinus infection until I can go to the doctor?
I am prone to sinus infections when I get a cold, but I am extra miserable from this one. The mucus smells bad and tastes bad if it drains into my throat. I can’t go to the doctor until tomorrow is there anything I can do to make it a little better until then? I’ve been irrigating my nose with salt water it helps a little but not too much.
I’m not sure how to end this question, but to the person that said saline drops that worked great thanks! I even had some already for my baby I honestly think this cured me :)

I like the saline nose spray, inexpensive at target, and the like. its like the nose drops, but it really shoots the stuff up your nose. i do it once, blow my nose, then do it again about ten minutes later-that always seems to help me. sometimes i also use a steamer or a humidifier in my bedroom at night, or in my kitchen, or wherever i happen to be.

Question by H&R: BAD SINUSITIS WITH NO OBVIOUS SOLUTION, PLEASE I NEED A DOCTOR SPECIALIST FOR IT HERE?
I have been suffering from a bad sinusitis for years, nothing managed to solve my problem, most of antibiotic failed (Avalox, Tavanic, Ciprofloxacin, Amoxil, Ampicillin, Sulpha….etc)….I’m also doing nasal rinse with salin solution every day or twice per day, but still getting very bad headache and pain.

I have tried the Flonase steam inhalation, seams to make a very little different but still extremely suffering.

The most annoying symptoms is runny nose, bad bad headache and I can only relief this pain by taking Panadol Sinus or Zyrtec, after 1 day the pain return again and I have to take again Panadol Sinus & Zayrtec.

I went to a doctor yesterday and he took a look, he told me that every thing seem to be infected inside the sinus so I have to take Tavanic for 6 days, use nasal drops & take Trisolvin then after 6 days I make a CT x-ray and back to him.

I’m now 2 days taking the treatment but still suffering from the same bad symptoms, I really don’t know what the doctor is going to do with the CT, will he intend to make a surgical treatment? I Don’t like surgery.

Please, if a good docotor is here, I want to hear his advice….the sinusitis now is effecting my ears too making a bad pain inside them, and I’m afraid that something could happen.
