What does this diagnosis mean?Posted by: Alan in sinusitis treatment, tags: Diagnosis, mean, ThisQuestion by Ellie: What does this diagnosis mean? ’she had a deviation of the septum to the right but the middle meatus was normal bilaterally’ ^ Any help?? Best answer: Answer by zeldaslexicon Many people have deviated septums. If you’ve ever had a nasal injury, like breaking your nose, you are more likely to have a deviated septum. Depending upon the degree of deviation, you have have no symptoms at all. Marked deviation can cause problems with breathing through the affected nostril. If you have chronic sinusitis, the deviated septum could be aggrevating this. If you have not already, you should be evaluated by an ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT). They can give you more information and advise you further. In severe cases, deviated septums are corrected surgically, but this is not always necessary. Add your own answer in the comments!

Neurology diagnosis suggestions PLEASE?Posted by: Alan in sinusitis treatment, tags: Diagnosis, Neurology, Please, SuggestionsI have a diagnosis for anyone to help with: My girlfriend’s mother is suffering from chronic sinusitis and peripheral muscle weakness in her legs. She is roughly a 60 yo female. Here’s the history that I know. The first symptom was muscle weakness in her legs (both). She was carrying her son up a flight for stairs and her legs became weak. This first started almost 18 years ago! Currently, she is still suffering from weakness and lack of stimuli response. She cannot jump nor run (can walk, but slowly). Even though it hurts to try, she is physically unable to get her muscles to respond with that much force needed. Reflexes are completely absent in both legs. She has tingling and pain. About 10 years ago she had a muscle biopsy from her arm. I have no idea why her arm, her symptoms are in her lower end. She is also suffering from chronic sinusitis. She has been taking oral antibiotics for years! The medication doesn’t help. I do not know which antibiotic she’s taking. I would assume amoxicillin. Also, chronic fatigue, seems “flighty”, and depression. According to my girlfriend, her mother has lower attention span and bouts of short-term memory loss. Here’s the treatments and tests she’s had thus far: Keep in mind, none have worked. I believe the leg weakness and pain may not have anything to do with her sinus issues. She has been getting treatments for these treatments for MANY years. The doctors still do not know what the cause is. They are treating the symptoms, not the illness. Oral antibiotics My thoughts: Even though I am not a doctor, but have medical training, I have a few ideas that might be possible. Lyme Disease Let me know if you have any ideas. Any will be appreciated! I’ll add more symptoms when I know. |
