Another possibility that I think is likely based on your symptoms is chronic bronchitis. You don’t usually get a fever with bronchitis and it will cause you to cough up yellow or green phlegm. It also causes chest congestion. It may be related to allergies and/or a sinus infection that causes you to have mucus building up in your chest creating a breeding ground for bacteria, then you get sick. I would really strongly suggest going to see the doctor, preferably an ear, nose, and throat doctor who can properly diagnose the problem and help you treat it. I wouldn’t suggest just trying home remedies at this point as it sounds like you have been sick off and on for quite awhile.

get sinus or throat culture before next round of antibiotics, Home remedy is chicken soup/ orange juice, Warm saline nasal rinses, can use McNeil Sinus rinse, has salt and pinch of baking soda so it won’t burn. Nyquil, has diphenhydramine or Benadryl in it, will dry you up. salt water gargles, tea’s, bland foods. Vit C/ Zinc 100mg, stay hydrated. could be virus, it’s been going around, so wash your hands, keyboard and cellphone, change toothbrush when well. doubt bacteria mutated, but, you might not have had the right antibiotic and doc should have cultured you first, they are the first ones to not want to treat sinus inf with antibiotics and then they do it anyway. The docs need to follow their own advice and shut up and start being truthful with the public. He shouldn’t have guessed, cause that’s exactly how resistant bacteria works. he probably gave you 5 day Z pack and it killed off enough staph or upper resp flora, try some yogurt or Kefir, tangy yogurt from health food store, to restore gut bacteria or eat green vegies for the same effect.

Sorry never heard of that one, but if you have problems with sinus then get yourself a bottle of ‘Echinacea’ One tablet and your sinus’ are cleared for days. You can buy the little black pills at the drugstore.

I’ve tried a few OTC cold medicines with no success, just made me drowsy.

It’s fine if the solution relieves other cold symptoms too, just really want the sinus congestion gone.

What have you had success with?
I tried a neti pot. I really thought that was going to work, but it didn’t! I’ve reread the directions over and over and I’m doing it right.
