What is causing my headache (Is it really sinus trouble?)?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Relief, tags: Causing, Headache, really, Sinus, Trouble...I’m 19 years old and in the last 10 months I’ve had 2/3 cases of acute sinusitis which were cleared up with antibiotics. 2 months ago however I got a permanent dull headache around the sinus areas (forehead, bridge of the nose, between the eyes etc) and sometimes on the side of my head. It was there when I went to sleep and there when I woke up, I also feel fatigued and more tired than usual. I went to the doctors and have been on two courses of antibiotics which did not help very much apart from briefly reducing the severity of the symptoms for a few days.
Apart from the headache I always have one nostril which is blocked, and the blockage switches sides. However, I do not have any mucus dripping from my nose which is making me doubt whether this is sinus related and is making me paranoid it could be something very serious. Is it even possible to have sinus headaches without post nasal drip?
I have tried nasal sprays and have started irrigating my nasal passages with a saline solution which provides temporary relief. I also take codeine based painkillers which were prescribed to me and these help mask the pain of the headache but I realize that this is not solving the problem.
Anyway, what does this sound like to you? Is sinus trouble a likely cause?
What else could it be?
Does my constantly blocked nostril indicate anything?
Has anybody experienced so called ‘chronic’ sinusitis and did is there a chance of it going naturally and on it’s own?
Thanks, your help is much appreciated
