Entry from: Jodhpur, India Entry Title: “The Blue City” Entry: “JODHPUR So we finally made it to Jodhpur, and since we didn’t have a hotel lined up beforehand, we did a little bit of searching around. At this point in our journey, I was feeling pretty gross. I contracted a nasty sinus infection somewhere along the way (Could it have been from recycled airplane air? Or was it from the cold night of camping in the desert? Perhaps it was from playing with dung beetles before eating. Maybe I was coughed upon, sneezed upon, or spit upon! Oh…I know…it must have been the rat excrement that lingered on my bare feet, encrusted between my toes for five hours!), and I was in dire need of a time out, a cup of tea, and a foot bath. Our prayers were soon answered, and we found the best guest house ever: Newton’s Manor. If you ever get to Jodhpur, Newton’s Manor is the place to stay. It’s a colonial style guest house with six rooms, free internet, home cooked meals, and kitschy antiques all over the place. The staff is wonderful, and Mr. Newton makes a point of interacting with each of his guests. It was a fantastic home away from home for our two days in Jodhpur. Jodhpur, the blue city, was amazing. We started in the morning with Jaswant Thada, a marble memorial described as the “Taj Mahal of Marwar.” It had

Question by Bella: I’ve been having extreme pressure around my eyes and forehead, the doctor told me I had a sinus infection?
He told me it was probably a sinus infection. The pressure is around my eyes and forehead. I have a stiff neck which is known to be a symptom. Every once and a while I can feel these little cracks in my sinuses ( I have been on anitbiotics for a few days now, but only having some relief) But I always thought that you have congested nasal passages when you have an infection, and I don’t… just wondering if this could be something else… Its really agonizing sometimes and I would like some answers.. Thanks.

You don’t always; sometimes it stays deep in the sinuses. Temple and eye pain/pressure (especially between the eyes) is indicative of a sinus problem, yes; I hadn’t heard of a stiff neck as being a symptom of sinus infection though, odd.

I *would* worry a bit if it’s been several days on antibiotics with little to no improvement, though; you may need a different antibiotic. I’d suggest calling up your doctor again for advice. You may also need a decongestant and expectorant to help thin the congestion in the sinuses and help relieve the pain and pressure while the antibiotic hopefully works on the cause. There’s a lot of good over-the-counter ones; I personally prefer Mucinex these days.

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Probolinggo, Indonesia by TravelPod blogger Sirrocko711 titled “Day 54: Gunung Bromo & Bus to Bali” Sirrocko711’s travel blog entry: “At 3am, I awakened to the feeling that a truck had crashed into my head. Somehow in the previous five hours, I’d picked up an ear ache (motorcycle ride I’m guessing), an evil gum sore under one of my teeth, an entirely separate sweet tooth (Iraqi dates + deficient dental hygiene), and a sidesplitting headache either from an oncoming cold, heat (unlikely), a sinus infection (maybe), or who who knows what. I don’t think my head has ever been in that much pain from that many different ailments before. The Mt Bromo sunrise was not only one of the main reasons I’d chosen Indonesia over Vietnam though, but also the main reason I came to urban industrial Java at all as opposed to going straight to more exotic Sumatra, Bali, or Borneo. I couldn’t let four separate simultaneous aches ruin it, and wasn’t going to be put a day behind schedule waiting for them to go away. Out whipped the first aid kit, and into my mouth popped two Tylenol pills. Within twenty minutes, I was well enough to enjoy the ensuing experience. I picked up my packed lunch, rented the goofiest looking winter coat I’d ever seen, and hopped in my designated jeep alongside a German family and elderly French couple (European tourists are common here, Americans are not.) We arrived at the viewpoint by five and beheld the sunrise

Susan Yarrawonga: Thank you, those are all great suggestions. I’m really looking for a quick fix, right now…I’m in pain.
H-Man: Did it, several times today…I need some strong meds.
