Question by ~Bob~: What to do about chronic sinusitis…?
I have had severe allergies for 21 years now. I’ve done 2 rounds of allergy shots and taken most of the available allergy medications, both OTC and prescribed. I’ve done sinus rinses, and sprays. I’ve taken steroids for this. I’ve had several CT scans done. With the CT scans, I’ve gotten mixed results. From one CT scan I was told first that there was a cyst in my sinus and a “hole” that lead from my nasal passage way straight into one of my sinuses. The next day I was told that the CT scan was completely clear and there was nothing wrong. Six months later they re-read the scan and confirmed the first statement.
Since January, I have taken 6 rounds of antibiotics, 1 of which was for 40 days and 1 for 21 days. I’m getting frustrated.
The rinses make it worse because my sinuses do not drain correctly so the extra fluid sits in them. Now for the first time in my entire life, I am starting to have breathing problems. I have an emergency inhaler and a breath tester. I test my breathing every morning, but I usually end up re-testing at night because I get short of breath. Usually I end up at the low end of my normal range, but I have had to use my inhaler a few times because I was below that.
I’m not a smoker and I am not around smoke.
At this point in time, I don’t know what to do any more. I am literally out of ideas and looking at alternative medicines.
Has anyone had any success with a particular medicine or treatment? I’m looking for something unconventional because the conventional has not worked. If I can’t get something done soon, I’m looking at surgery which I would like to avoid if it’s at all possible, but I have looked into if I can’t get this under control.
Thanks for your input. And please, only serious responses.

Hi there, I’m sorry to hear about all your sinus problems!

I used to get sinus infections every month, and it was miserable. I practically went through all the antibiotics I could before we started looking at alternatives. Finally, a few years ago I got a simple endoscopic sinus surgery where they opened up my sinuses. There are no external incisions, and the whole procedure is through your nostrils. The recovery time really wasn’t that bad, and it was probably the easiest procedure I have and will ever have. I haven’t had a sinus infection since! It’s pretty incredible. Talk to your doctor about it!

Good luck!

Here’s some more information:
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It is performed as an outpatient surgery, which means that you will go home the same day. Once you are asleep, medicine is placed and injected inside your nose. The medicines are decongestants combined with anesthetics. They reduce the bleeding, and, in fact, we do so well today that our typical blood loss is less than a teaspoon. In part because of this anesthetic technique and in part because of the general anesthetic, you will feel nothing throughout the surgery. All of the surgery is performed through the nostril openings. There are no external incisions. Much of the surgery is performed with little telescopes which we call endoscopes. Little microsurgical instruments are then placed inside the nose alongside the endoscopes. The sinus surgery itself is directed at opening the little ostia, that is the little holes that drain and connect your nose with your sinuses. By enlarging these holes, the air flows more naturally into your sinuses. The secretions flow more naturally out of your sinuses. Infections are less likely, and those that do occur, are much more easily treated.
The day of surgery, the anesthetic in your nose and the grogginess from the general anesthetic are such that patients experience very little discomfort. Usually, the day after surgery people do feel a little uncomfortable and a little stuffy. Most commonly, the discomfort subsides on the following day, patients begin to feel better, and from then on things improve on a daily basis

What do you think? Answer below!

This is a long update and is mostly a vent. I also have a sinus infection. NOT fun. Essentially, I don’t enjoy being the center of attention. People often assume that my being outgoing is accompanied by a desire to be the center of attention. This is a very false assumption. So, this is a vent, update, and etc.

Drew was treated with NeuroCranial Restructuring which is a cranial therapy using endo nasal balloons that yields amazing changes in the shape of your cranium / skull allowing it to be it’s natural width and shape so that the inner ears align properly and the nerves fire better and this can often relieve tinnitus when nothing else helps. Taking pressure off of the skull allows for better brain and ear function. Dr. Lieurance is one of only 2 doctors in the state of Florida that perform this amazing treatment.Having suffered for many years with sinus trouble or chronic sinusitis she was refered to Dr.Lieurance, Cranial expert, for NCR or NeuroCranial Restructuring by another physician. She tried nasal spray’s steroids, turbinate surgery, or resection, septal correction for deviated septum among other treatments with limited results. By adjust the sphenoid using endonasal balloons along with specific body positions. This is a functional neurological treatment that allows better communication with the inner ear or semicircular canals. Also fee’s up the area around the ear for better circulation to help speed healing through acupuncture meridians and lymphatic drainage of the ear organs responsible for balance. There is also cerebellar correction that improves frequency of firing of shunt stabilization to spine and postural stabilizer muscles which communicate to the ear and brain to maintain proper balance under gravity. in This treatment was first discovered by Stober ND

Discover the secret CAUSE of your chronic neck, shoulder & back pain while improving your posture, facial attractiveness and mental functioning abilities. It’s all in your head — your skull actually. Breakthrough medical technology actually “puts your head on straight” and adjusts the bones of your skull FROM THE INSIDE OUT without expensive drugs and dangerous surgical procedures. Your neck and back are sore because they’re compensating all day long to keep your 10 pound head balanced. Neurocranial Restructuring (NCR) is the only protocol that quickly, safely and gently rebalances both the bones of the skull, and how your head sits on top of your spine to relieve your chronic pain once and for all. Physiotherapy, chiropractic, osteopathy, and even orthopedic surgery pale in comparison to the results of this natural treatment. Massage, exercise and stretching are great, but they don’t address the cause. Common benefits of NCR include: – Relief from chronic shoulder, neck and back pain (upper, lower, left, right) – Scoliosis, Lordosis (swayback) and Kyphosis (hunchback) lessen dramatically – Long lasting relief from head injuries and post concussion syndrome symptoms – Improved attractiveness as your ears, eyes and entire face become more symmetrical, cheek bones rise, narrow and sharp features soften, & wrinkles usually diminish – Bald men get a sexier head as unattractive ridges, peaks, and dents lessen – Mental clarity improves as your brain gains “more room to think
