For sinus pain, pressure, or infections? I have a Dr appointment but not until later and the pressure and pain is so bad. Just wondered if anyone knew of anything I could use at home until I get some antibiotics. I’ve been taking Advil cold and sinus which helps for about 3 hours then its the bad pain again. Any ideas? Thanks in advance! :^)

Get a neti-pot. You can find them at any drug store for 10 dollars or so.

I had chronic sinusitis for YEARS, took antibiotics more times than any person should. OTC medication, nor prescription worked. Neti-pots are the best thing I’ve found for my sinus issues. They work instantly, and your nose/nasal passages will be clean for a long time.

When I first got it, I did it several times a week. Now I’m down to about once every two weeks. That little pot has made my life much better.

Mash cloves of garlic in a garlic press to extract the natural juices and oils. Use an eyedropper to squeeze a few drops of the garlic juice into your nose, and hold the juice in place for 5 minutes by pinching your nostrils shut. While this remedy can relieve sinus congestion effectively, it shouldn’t be used more than three times a day.

Rinsing your sinues with a Neti Pot or a motorized nasal irrigator has made all the difference for me.

Do you have pain in the teeth, between the eyes, and the ears?

    Vicks Vaporizer helps.
Steam your face, breathe the steam deep into your lungs.
    Neti pot.
Gargle with hot water and salt.

Lay down and put a hot towel over your face, I heat mine in the microwave oven, be careful not to burn yourself. Do it several times. Get n the shower and take a hot shower. Use salt/baking soda in water and irrigate your sinuses with it. Avoid sugars and dairy, those foods feed the germs in the sinuses and may cause extra fluids to build up. I buy Seagate olive leaf spray at my local health food store and squirt it in my nose a few times a day, it really works. Have recommended it to several people and they always come back and thank me for telling them about it.

I feel your pain. I get bad sinus pain as well. Here’s something that works wonders for me and its super easy to do.

Take a pot of hot tap water (not boiling) and a face cloth.
Soak the cloth in the water and then ring it out. Lie down and put the hot cloth over your face.
the moisture you get from breathing in through the cloth and the heat help to break up the sinus congestion. You will feel a significant improvement in no time.

Also, if you have peppermint or eculiptus essential oil you could add one drop only to the pot of water. No more then that. It also helps to clear the passages.

I have also been told that a neti pot works well, but haven’t found one yet to try it myself.

    I hope that helps.

Nettles or Stinging Nettles from health food store (they are capsules and don’t sting!) will do the trick.

i have pretty bad allergies and the only thing that helps is Singulair – but i dont have insurance so i cant afford it so i generally just suffer – but to help with sinuses, when the pressure is really bad and my whole face hurts, i usually suck on a cough drop, halls works best for me, so the vaoprs will at least clear out the sinus cavities and relieve some of that pressure…good luck!

Plain old salt water will drain you sinus cavity. Works just like a neopot except its free. Just mix salt with some water and sniff it thru each nostril. Works wonders. Just don’t use to much salt or it really burns. I’m guilty of doing this but it works every time.

I see someone suggested a neti pot. That is a good start. You don’t need to even see the doctor if you add several drops of grapefruit seed extract to the pot. It is a natural antibiotic, and you should notice improvement quickly. Do it 3 times a day or so, and after a day or two, you should be good as new.

Many great answers. Rinsing out the sinus passage way with the neti-pot or similar works. I suffer from chronic sinusitis, 7 years now. I take more antibiotics then I care to or should take, but that was all that helps when I have an infection………but I have found a product that works wonders. I am down to 1/4 of my daily drugs to help combat the pressure and pain. I have been on Omnaris, Astelin, Claratin, Sudafed (240 mgs). . . down to 1 does of Astelin (from 3) and only 60 mgs of sudafed. Here is what I take and I wish you the best of luck. You probably have an infection that will require antiobiotics and if at all possible, find something other then traditional drugs.

Garlic, add to your food. No dairy-as dairy will produce more mucus-AVOID dairy. Drink juices, take vit C. Vick’s humidifier will help. You can also gargle with salty water-1tsp of salt for a glass of water. If you have herb Golden Seal-you can gargle with it. Or you can drink the Golden Seal tea.
Good Luck, hope this will help with your discomfort.

My Dr. told me to do this years ago!! it is very healing ( warm salt water) to about 3 cups of water, maybe one tablespoon. good luck, it has saved me many times from having to pay for a dr. and I do not like taking meds!!
