I get them a few times a year, thanks to allergies. I eat really spicy foods. Not just a little spicy, REALLY spicy. The hot peppers usually open my sinuses and allow them to drain. Good luck.

It will probably clear of its own accord, and, in any case, there is nothing you can do that will accomplish much in the next few days. the cheapest way to deal with sinus infections is to sniff up salt water. It’s not pleasant, but it kills the germs!

Over the counter cold tablets will help. I don’t know what sort of tablets are available in the US. Try a combination of paracetamol, sudafed and an antiallergic.
Steam inhalation does help.

Saline sprayed constantly up the nose. The drug store has many different varieties or you could go to the health store and get a nose irrigation system. Relieves quickly.

I like to use a few drops of eucalyptus in a closed tub. close all the bathroom doors and run straight hot water to steam up the bathroom then breathe in the fumes. It opens up the sinuses everytime. Gl Other than over the counter medications I have no other thoughts.

Garlic has the same effects as antibiotics. Eating a fresh clove three times a day is extremely helpful in getting rid of one. You can also get garlic/mullein oil (aprox $10 at health food stores)that comes in a dropper. Drop a couple drops in each nostril twice a day to help clear up the infection. If your nose is stuffed up you can take a Cayenne based hot sauce to clear you up. Cayenne is also good for fighting infections, as well.
Another helpful product I use when I have sinus infections is Golden Seal (aprox $10 at health food stores). I fill a small glass with about 3oz of hot water and mix in the recommended dosage and drink. It tastes yucky but it fights infections the same way antibiotics do, as well.
Drink plenty of fluids including cranberry juice (not sweetened), and Ginger Tea.
I use this method when I get a sinus infection. It always works and doesn’t have the side effects of medicines.

Go to the pharmacy, walmart, wherever and get something called a “nasal rinse”…Ocean is one brand….it’s disgusting–basically you’re forcing water up one nasal passage and down the other but it totally works for flushing out the funk and also keeping your nose hydrated. Drink lots of orange juice, hot tea, etc. Gargle with salt water when your throat gets scratchy from the drainage. Take Nyquil at night and rub vicks vapo-rub all over your chest and under your nose.
If it goes into your chest, then break out the Mucinex tablets–drink a ton of water with those, too.

Sinus infection, that is Sinusitis.a condition in which the sinus cavities around your eyes and nose are infected, producing pressure, pain and gobs of yellow or green mucus. How did you and 30 to 50 million other people get this stuffiness?
To understand that, you first have to understand what your sinuses do when they’re working right.Scientists belive the sinuses around your nose act like small air-quality control centers. It’s their job to warn, moisten, purify, and generally condition the air you breathe before it hits your lungs.Entering bacteria gets trapped and filtered out bu mucus and minute nasel hairs called cilia.
This little air-flow system may gum up,however,if something impedes the cilia,if cold clogs the sinus openings,or if an allergen swells the sinus linings. Then air gets trapped, pressure builds, the mucus stagnates, and bacteria breed.Infection sets in and you have a whopping case of sinusitis. If you get clogged up too many times, you may wind up with a permanent thickening of sinus membranes and a chronic”stuffy doze”.
Before you get to that point, here’s what the doctors say you can unstuff your sinuses, reduce pain and pressure, and get the air flowing freely.
GET ALL STEAMED UP. “Humidity is the key to keeping the cilia working, the mucus flowing, and the sinuses drained.” says Stanley N Farb.M.D.,chief of otolayngology at Montgomery and Sacred Heart hospitals in Norristown.Pennsylvania.Twice a day, stand in a shower hot enough to fog up the mirror,Or lean over a pan full of steaming water with a towel over your head, creating a steam tent.Inhale the vapors as they waft up toword your nostrils.
GET A SNOOTFUL AT WORK.If stiffness hits during day when you’re at work or the run,get a cup of hot coffee.tea.or soup, cup your hands over the top of the mug.and sniff.suggests Howard M Druce.M.D.,assistant professor of internal medicine and director of Nasal and Paranasal Sinus Physiology Lab at St.Louis University School of Medicine. If it won’t work as well as a steam bath, but it will provide some relief.
HUMIDITY YOUR HOME.
BATHE YOUR NOSTRILS DAILY.
DRINK TO YOUR HEARTS CONTENT(BOTH HOT & COLD THROUGHOUT THE DAY,dR.fARB SAYS,THINS OUT THE MUCUS AND KEEPS IT FLOWING.SIPPING HOT TEAS MADE WITH HERBS SUCH AS FENUGREEK,FENNEL,ANISE.OR SAGE MAY HELP MOVE MUCUS EVEN MORE)
BLOW ONE NOSTRIL AT A TIME.
FORGET YOUR MANNERS,GO AHEAD AND SNIFFLE.
UNSTUFF YOURSELF WITH DECONGESTANT TABLET,THE BEAST OVER THE COUNTER SINGLE ACTION TABLET SUCH AS Sudafed, says Dr.Farb.
Avoid products containing antihistamines if you are stuffed up with infection.
Get Well.
Take Care.
