I got my wisdom teeth extracted last wednesday. It’s been ok, except today and yesterday i started expieriencing pain in my ears and sinuses. I am seeing the oral surgeon tomorrow. However, what bothers me more than the pain, is this horrible tast coming from the socket. From what I have researched it seems normal. It’s just so vile and make me sick to my stomach. I tried brushing and rinsing with saltwater, but that doesnt work. Does anyone know any remedies to get rid of the digusting taste?

It is probably the taste of blood – that’s what I had after my wisdon teeth were taken out.

that, or you have dry sockets – hope not, that sucks!

There really isn’t a way to get rid of the taste other than just having something in your mouth at all times to disguise the taste. After your gums heal, the taste will go away, unfortunately, you have to deal with it until then.

Keep up the saltwater, though, unless the doctor tells you to stop b/c that can help speed healing. Just be careful not to spit – just let the water drain out of your mouth b/c spitting can cause dry sockets.

Sounds like you have a dry socket. Rinse incisively with warm salt water.

I had exactly the same and I got a strong mouthwash and used that 2-3 times a day….it will go, its just part of the healing.
