Sinusitis – Painkillers dont work?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Relief, tags: Don't, painkillers, Sinusitis, WorkI have suffered all of my life with severe/chronic sinusitis. When I get it, it totally takes over my life and I can’t focus on anything else.
I get severe pain at the side of my nose, in my jaw and bizarely my neck gets very painful and crunches when I move it. I regularly break out in sweats, get nauseus and have nose bleeds.
It usually lasts for about 4-5 days and there seems to be a definite link with my menstrual cycle in that it usually starts a couple of days before my period. I also get it if an aerosol is sprayed near to me. I can instantly feel my nostrils twitching!!
The worst thing is that nothing seems to relieve the pain. I take ibuprofen and sinus relief capsules (with paracetomol) every 4 hours and it doesn’t even take the edge off the pain. Steam inhalation does very little also. I’ve had Doxycycline from my GP a few times but it doesn’t stop is coming back long term.
I would be most grateful for any tips on pain relief as Im totally fed up!!

The only thing that I found that works for my sinusitis when I have it is Equate Severe Allergy and Sinus Headache tablets from Walmart. They are blue tablets, and the stuff works like magic. My other “over the counter” friend that I have found is a Vicks Vapo Steam Inhaler. It’s this little personal sized cup that you fill with hot water and drop in a pad, hold it up to your nose and just breath it in deeply for about 15 minutes. It works every time to relieve my symptoms for 8-12 hours!

My sister, who has the very same problem, gets relief by washing out the sinuses behind the nose with salt water. She uses a water-pic.
I know a man who, after suffering with your problem for years, discovered that he had polyps in his sinuses, which were “catching” dirt, dust, pollen and such, causing his sinusitis. He recently had the polyps removed by laser. There is a painful 1-2 week recovery for this procedure. I haven’t spoken with him lately and don’t know if the procedure helped. Good luck!

There are sprays that can help relieve the problems of having sinusitis. One spray that works well is Xlear nasal spray. It not only cleanses the sinuses, but it contains healthy ingredients.
