I have had my head ct scan results showing that I have chronic sinusitus. I am on antibiotics and it’s been 4 days since the beginning of my anti-biotics treatment. Last night I started to feel pain and swollowing in my throat. It became worst and today and now I feel as though I have a heavy flu. The symptoms are slight dizziness, muscle weakness all over body, fatigue, nasal discharge, nasal conjestion, some throat pain (since my last use of tylenol the throat pain is decreased) , and some senses of ear blockage.

My question is what exactly has happened? Is it the allergy that is causing the sympoms now, or is it the new condition of flu which I just developed?

before my anti-biotics treatment, I suffered from headaches caused by inflamation of my sinuses, but there were no signs of what I’m experiencing now.

Right now I’m on Nyquil and soon will be (hopefully) knocked out. Thanks for any help in advance.

You may have just picked up the flu bug…going to Drs office hosp etc for other tests…sinusitis is a bacteria inf…flu is a viral inf.

Could be a resistant sinus infection, or a secondary infection. If if continues, get back in to the doctor.

I’m so sorry that you are going through such misery! Could it be that your immune system is compromised? Could the inflammation be caused by an allergy (ie. dairy) or maybe even specially, an overgrowth of yeast in your body (which can impair immune function). I used to get lots of colds & bronchitis until I went on an anti-yeast diet – it’s something to get used to, but it’s much healthier than the regular American diet – it’s basically eating veggies, fruit, lean protein and healthy carbs & fats (no sugars, no refined grains, no bread). High quality chocolate is allowed (in small amounts :( ) If you want more info, you can research it online or I can give you some links below. Good luck to you and I hope you find good health soon!!

Something is very wrong with this picture. Why are you on antibiotics and Tylenol and/or NyQuil at the same time? Having your sinuses CT scanned cannot diagnose a “chronic” sinusitis. Chronic anything is determined by the number of times you have had it and at what intervals! Do you also have an allergy…you did mention it in connection with your “new” symptoms! Sinus infections are not necessarily a part of allergies but can be.

Your broad spectrum antibiotic should take care of the symptoms you are now experiencing now so it’s probably just a matter of it getting worse before it gets better. You do not have the flu…you have a sinus infection and it’s classic. Stop taking all that other OTC junk in conjunction with what the doctor prescribed. At the height of it you shouldn’t have anything more than your antibiotics, an inhaler and a good cough medicine like Robitussin DM. If your throat bothers you then gargle with warm salt water whenever it hurts. There’s nothing wrong with your ear…the sensation comes from the throat.
