I have had a cold for almost a week now and need some relief! I am 16 weeks pregnant and need to know if it is safe to use any of the following:
Tylenol cold and sinus
Vicks vapor rub
Some people say stay away from all medication and some say these are ok. What is the truth?

Basically, all tylenol products have been shown to be safe during pregnancy. My midwife and doctors also let me use Vicks.
The problem with meds is that no one wants to test them on a pregnant woman and chance danger to the fetus. So they simply collect data on women that take the products while prego anyways. So, there is enough data on Tylenol products to know they are safe because they are so popular, but not on other products.
They have shown that ibuprofen and naproxen(Aleve) are not safe during the 1st and 3rd trimesters, so I just stay away from them during pregnancy altogether.

    The original Sudafed or Tylenol.
They just came out with a new kind that you can buy at the store that isnt behind the counter, DONT get that kind. It’s not been proven safe for pregnant women. You have to ask the pharmacist to get the original kind and he will ID you. If you have to explain that you are pregnant and he/she will give you the original kind.
**Also there is a good natural nasal spray that helps with dry irritated sinuses. It has some sort of mint tingling feeling and helped out a lot with my cold. You can also use the ocean spray brand. A humidifier will help too!

well i dont think you should take any of those medications because my doctor told me that the only safe medicine for pregnant women is the regular Tylenol. But you shouldn’t take it on a daily basis only when you really need it. I’m almost 7 months prego and i got sick during my 5th and that was all i took. I hope i helped, also maybe you should ask your doctor and see what he says. ;)

My midwife told me that I can take anything that says sinus or allergy on it but to stay away from medicine that says cold or flu. Everyone has their own opinions though but that is what my midwife suggested for me when I was sick.

When I was pregnant, I used nasal spray for the congestion (it’s safe to use while pregnant) and regular Tylenol for aches and pains. It worked great for me.
