Painful, Blocked Sinuses, Need Relief?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Relief, tags: Blocked, Need, Painful, Relief, SinusesMy sinuses really hurt, are very congested and i need to unblock them. Im slowly getting over the worse cold ever, but my sinuses make me feel the worse.
Iv tried putting my head over a steamy bowl of hot water, it cleared one nose but not the other and then soon after, it got blocked again, iv tried Airways gum, doesnt work and nose sprays, dont work.
Any special medicine i should take? It really hurts, makes my eyes water.

Stand under a warm/hot shower with the water pounding on your face for a few minutes. (Sometimes the steamy bowl thing just isn’t strong enough!)
Have you tried anything like Vick’s Vapor Rub? When I was little, my mom used to put a little right around the outside of my nose….it didn’t smell the best to everyone around me, but it opened me up and made me feel better. You might also try some Vick’s in a humidifier when you sleep. The colder winter air tends to dry out any drainage, so keeping the air in your room moist will help.
I hope you feel better soon!!!

I live on Tylenol Sinus and Allergy…they are behind the counter at the drug store/walmart because of the psuedo-phedrine. Can you take psuedo-phedrine? I used the Advil ones before and they were okay, too. I’m sorry that you are in so much pain….sinuses suck.

I’m sorry to hear you are so sick! I get those blocked sinuses whenever I get a cold & it is so painful! You want something with a decongestant in it- the best one is pseudoephedrine, but it is highly regulated. At some grocery stores and drug stores you’ll have to ask for it at the pharmacy counter and some places they only sell it to people who are 18+. (It is regulated because people used to buy it to make meth with.)
Many of the cold medicines now have a less effective decongestant in them, so watch the labels.
Sometimes you’ll find pseudoephedrine paired with tylenol or advil for pain relief.
Best of luck. Hope you feel better soon!

go to the doctor. he/ she’ll prescribe antibiotics to kill the bacteria that causes sinusitis. this is the best solution if you’re not getting better and it’s been going on for a while.
