How To Treat Allergies? I’ve Never Had Them, But Now My Doc Says I Do. Tips For Relief?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Relief, tags: Allergies, I've, Never, Relief, Says, Them, Tips, TreatI have never been diagnosed with allergies, but I have had a bad head cold for the last week and I thought I had a sinus infection. The doc said no, you have allergies. She prescribed alegra and nasonex. Opinions on those meds? Any other remedies? Thanks!

I got allergies for the first time this year also, it caused a lot of sinus pain. I tried alegra and it worked to me. A lot more people seem to be getting allergies lately.
It took about 6 weeks for mine to go away – the alegra helped control the symptoms.
Did you find out what you were allergic too? I think for me it was a spring time allergen, maybe pollen. If you are allergic to something specific, you can find that out. If it goes way in weeks, it’s probably just a seasonal thing.

Benedryl will put you to sleep.
Alka seltzer Flu medicine is the best for me. it has the same antihistamine as Clor Trimeton, but with Aspirin to reduce the swelling. Plus, the fizzy water acts quickly
Cough drops should be handy too.
My wife uses a Netty Pot. She runs warm salt water into her nasal passages. She says it helps.

I don’t know about either as I can’t take antihistimines, and generally don’t take medication.
However for allergies I find if I eat a lot of garlic they are much better. Saline nasal drops probably do as much for moving mucous from the sinus as anything else.
