What Can Cause You To Test Positive For Amphetamines When You Have Not Taken Them?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Relief, tags: Amphetamines, Cause, Have, Positive, Taken, Test, Them, What, WhenI came up positive on this for a job random check and I am scared and shocked, I do not take them. I do take antidepressants, sinus relief spray, wellbutrin SR, trazadone rarely, lamictal, over the counter Stackers, herbal tea’s and a lot of coffee. Any ideas please. Thought I was illegally drug free! Pat

Amphetamines are not generally used as an anti-depressant. This was common in the 1930’s but science has found better medications such as lithium, the aminoketones, and other seratonin uptake inhibitors.
Wellbutrin, while actually an aminoketone, is an amphetamine-derived drug. It has been cited in cases where false-positive results have been reported.
Amphetamine false-positives have been reported from the use of nasal sprays used for a variety of reasons, allergies, sinus relief, cold remedies, etc.

I’m not sure about this, but I think there’s a chance that there’s a type of amphetamine in your antidepressant medication. Not all drugs classed as “amphetamines” are illegal recreational drugs!
