Does Anyone Know Home Remedies For A Sinus Infection?
Posted by: Alan in Sinus Infection, tags: Anyone, Does, Home, Infection, Know, Remedies, Sinus
I have had a whoping headache for a bit over a week after being ill with a cold for two or three weeks. My guess is that my headcold turned into a sinus infection, and I need to know how to get rid of it without having to go to the doctor (poor college student who can’t afford a doctor visit). Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, and God bless.

If you have a cold, which is a viral infection, you will just have to “wait it out” until your body overcomes it. However, often a secondary bacterial infection develops on top of the viral one, and this would respond to an antibiotic.A cold should be over in two weeks. Longer than this can indicate the secondary infection.
In fact, if you have a bacterial infection, it would be very beneficial to you to treat it because these can “travel” to your heart, spine, brain, etc, and become life-threatening. This is why antibiotics were such “miracle drugs” when they were discovered.
Perhaps your school has a clinic where you can see someone who will prescribe an antibiotic. The cost of the drugs are almost nothing nowadays, if you use a generic. Wal-mart charges just four dollars, and Publix Supermarkets gives them away free.
Large cities and some towns have free clinics, too, that you may be able to find. Also, your doctor may call in the rx to the place of your choice without seeing you, and this would save you money.
Drink fluids, do not do much physical activity as your body needs to focus all of its energy on defeating the illness, and don’t overlook the painkilling effects of ibuprofen.

My husband uses this to keep from getting bronchitis when he gets a sinus infection, and I use it to cure sinus infections. THere are many kinds of bacteria that live in the sinuses, and this gets rid of all the bad ones!.This is the only thing that really helped me — my Dr. told me about a sinus wash that will kill bacteria.
you need
distilled water
sea salt
liquid chlorophyll and colloidal silver from the health food store.
in a glass mix 1/4 cup water with a pinch of salt and heat to body temperature.
add 5 drops each silver and chlorophyll and mix.
using a large dropper (like one used for infant medication) drop 2 full droppersfull into one side of the nose while laying down.
Turn the head and let it drain out the other nostril. Be sure to have paper towels handy. or just use a neti pot, I like this better.
The silver kills the bacteria and there are several hundred kind that can live in the sinus cavities and anti biotics don’t get rid of them all.
Do this twice a day for a week, mixing up the mixture fresh each time.
Then do it once a week for maintenance.
There is nothing in this that will hurt you, and it cured me.
I do not have to take claritin, or antibiotics anymore.
best wishes

Sorry to hear your sick. Well, I have gotton these many times and there are things call neti pots, they are to rise out you sinuses. It is just saline water that you sniff up and then it rises out through your throat. You can buy these at a drug store or grocery store, there is also way to do this with stuff you have at home but you might want to google that to be sure it is the right thing. Also, be sure to drink PLENTY of water. This will help your body rise out any bad things. Hope this helps and you feel better soon!

Normal saline nostril rinse. It may take a couple of day, but you will start to feel the affects after about 15min. after the first treatment. You may use it asan and buy it otc from any drugstore and most supermarkets.

I used to have problems with my sinuses and someone suggested I take a break from dairy products, and it worked.
I miss cheese, but it’s better than those headaches.

get McNeil sinus rinse from Walmart. It has premade packets, use with warm water, it’s gross at first, but really helps. Motrin helps with inflammation if you take 600mg every 6-8hours, sometimes warm facial cloths. The McNeil system explains everything about sinus infections and has pictures in there. It’s about 10 dollars over the counter at Walmart and worth it. I’ve used if for the past 4 years, have had 3 sinus surgerys. Chronic sinusitis can be a symptom of other illness/serious. You may need antibiotics and CT scan if persists and if continues, need immunological studies. I know my end result was cystic fibrosis diagnosis, late age. Buy behind the counter sudafed, not sudafed PE, that doesn’t work, also, Afrin spray will decongest you, but you have to get the mucous out and get a dental appt for a cleaning.
