pseudoephedrine(generic)/ Sudaphed(brand name) would be the most effective choice to combat sinus congestion, both the generic and the brand name are equally effective. If you are experiencing rhinorrhea/”runny nose” in addition to the congestion, you would need to take an antihistamine like diphenhydramine/Benadryl to alleviate that symptom. However, diphenhydramine/Benadryl can cause drowsiness. If the congestion is accompanied by pain you might want to try taking an over the counter analgesic like Advil or Tylenol. The Advil should be better in your case because it is also has anti-inflamatory as well as pain relieving properties . The medicines I’ve mentioned are all available over the counter. If these symptoms persist for longer then ten days, I would recommend making an appointment to see your doctor.

try normal saline nasal sprays. It is normal saline water with no chemicals added, works perfect to get the sinuses draining and relieve the headache.

If it involved the sinuses, they would hurt even after the headache is gone.. You may want to check a couple places to determine if there is some noted tenderness.. one place is the notch in the eyebrow. The other is a hole in the bone on the inner aspect of the cheek bone. If these are tender on either side, you have a nerve inflammation in the active state. That particular nerve is one of the cranial nerves and indicates a pretty good inflammatory process in action. It will intermittently become active and then subside. If the problem is not corrected, it will build up and start the process all over again.. Is a chronic, sub-acute condition which occasionally becomes acute. It is usually accompanied by some other of the nerves being involved.

Headache is a pain in the head, scalp or neck. Headaches can be
caused by minor problems like eyestrain, lack of coffee or more
serious reasons like head injury, brain tumors, encephalitis and
meningitis. Taking painkillers continuously can have harmful side
effects, so it is better to modify your lifestyle. More information
